ACTIVE COMMUTE WEEK CELEBRATION
Friday May 17
5 – 9pm
Rosa Parks Circle
This family friendly event is FREE and open to the public.
Walk, Roll or Ride to Rosa Parks Circle to join the celebration of active transportation! TerraTrike sponsored rider and Emcee Ralston Bowles will entertain and tell us a little bit about Active Commuting, then introduce a few local bands playing throughout the night, including Silent Bark, The Mines, and the Jim Shaneberger Band. Grab some local food and stay for a drink on the Grand Rapids Art Museum terrace while enjoying the music.
The Rapid will have a bus on site during the celebration with the new three-bike rack. Demonstrations will be available to show you how to load and unload your bike while riding the bus. Bike shops and non-profit organizations will be set up to provide information related to Active Commuting.
Stick around for a 9:15 screening of Bicycle Dreams, an epic documentary about the extreme challenges and triumphs of biking across America in 10 days.
FREE mini-tune-ups will be offered by The Spoke Folks, a local bike co-op.
Grab your friends and family and head downtown for the second annual Active Commute Week Celebration!
